Startfish Men
Zany pop, underwater adventures and litter picking.
Charlie Hannah is co-frontman of psych-pop band Itchy Teeth and one half of the surreal duo Starfish Men. He is about to release his third solo album, ’Standing on the Verge of Getting a Cold’, on Margate-based label ‘M8’s Records’. As a ‘singer’-songwriter, he is noted for his impressive one and a half octave vocal range, and the micro-genre he coined, called ‘Domestica’. He describes it as ‘music made at home about subjects such as hobbies, housework and the human condition’. Charlie’s live band comprises some of the finest musicians in the Kent music scene – with Jimi Tormey (Gang) on drums, Luke Menniss (Lapis Lazuli) on bass, Nou Helm and Flo Stirrup (the Selkies) on vocals, percussion and sax, Phil Self (Cocos Lovers) on synth, and Chris Brown (Lazy Pilgrims) on guitar.
