Lounge Wizards: Claire Pitt Wigmore, Tony Westcliff, DJ Abstract

On Friday 29th Nov, 101 will be host to one of the first events by new local promoters “Lounge Wizards”.
These are evenings at small local bars and eateries – all free entry – which showcase the lighter side of experimental and psychadelic music.

Organizer Tony Westcliff is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter, who set up Lounge Wizards to give more opportunities to musicians from underserved genres. “There’s plenty of places to go locally if you want to see heavier bands, or singer-songwriters with acoustic guitars, but I couldn’t see anywhere which was specifically geared toward triphop, neo-soul, and the softer end of psych-rock. So that’s what we’re focussing on. 101 has always been a local trailblazer when it comes to showcasing more unusual types of music in a welcoming and cosy atmosphere”.

The event on the 29th will feature jazz organist John Boch, the deft guitar and vocals of Claire Pitt Wigmore (of NO.TV and CPR and the Echograms) and DJ Abstract spinning soulful hiphop and triphop tunes to close off the night, as well as Westcliff himself creating live loop pedal compositions.
