Martinmas Lantern Making Workshop

After the long pandemic break, we are so thrilled to be resuming one of our favourite annual celebrations: Martinmas, with the lantern making workshop and the lantern walk, the following week.

This will be an informal and free pop-in workshop from 4pm till 7pm for all children to make lanterns, for themselves and for friends old and new. We have materials and tools, but you’re very welcome to bring more.

While we get crafty and creative, we’ll sing the lantern song to prepare for the walk of the 11th, and Franca will be happy to share what she knows about the reasons and meanings of this Christian tradition rooted in the Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the start of the darker period of the year, still so relevant today.
