Rachelle Francis – Discovering Diana: “Mind to Pen”

A posthumous collaboration between mother and daughter, “Head Down Heart Up” [Joseph Wales] shared a collection of drawings [1972-2019] by the late Diana Francis in poignant conversation with artworks by her daughter Rachelle.

POW’s theme of Rest now provides the perfect opportunity to re-exhibit some of Diana’s most immersive drawings as testimony to the restorative powers of art – and the power of doodling as a tool to support mental health.

Rachelle inherited over 1000 of Diana’s titled, signed and dated doodled artworks shortly after she died. Although squirrelled away throughout her life, Diana’s doodles inspired Rachelle’s career in textile design – their mutual love of pattern-making and cathartic compulsion to create connecting them as mother and daughter.

We will also be sharing over 500 artworks created by local community groups in copies of the mindful doodling book ‘Mind to Pen’, written by Rachelle and illustrated by Diana.

Private View on Friday, 22nd March from 6pm.

Accessibility: Access to the exhibiting space and bar is via narrow stairs. Seating available on both floors.
