101 Film Club Special: Two Christmas Classics
25 December 2022 |11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
FreeIt’s Christmas! While the Soup Kitchen serves a special menu just outside 101, we’ll be screening two Christmas classics in the warmth of our space upstairs.
12 noon: Trapped in Paradise (1994, US, 1h51m, PG)
Fresh out of prison, Alvin and Dave Firpo pull their brother Bill (Nicolas Cage) back into a life of crime. But the siblings’ foolproof bank heist takes a tailspin when Alvin gets lost in the getaway car. That’s how the criminal nitwits wind up trapped in the snowbound burg of Paradise, PA, on Christmas Eve with a bag full of stolen cash. With suspicious police on one side and hospitable townsfolk on the other, could a change of heart be far away? Trailer
2pm: It’s a Wonderful Life (1946, US, 2h10m, PG)
George Bailey (James Stewart) has so many problems he is thinking about ending it all – but it’s Christmas! As George is about to jump from a bridge, he ends up rescuing his guardian angel, Clarence – who then shows George what his town would have looked like if it hadn’t been for all his good deeds over the years.
