“I’m excited to be involved in POW! 2018 showing through my photographs the strength, humour, talent and optimism of women and girls through the years, from tennis player Billy Jean King, singer Joan Armatrading, doctors demonstrating their support for the NHS, Kent Pride, to my daughter doing yoga in the garden, and much in between.”After graduating in Fine Art in the 1970s, I found my way into photography, co-founding the Wandsworth Photo Co-op (which subsequently grew into Brixton’s Photofusion). We used photography as a tool within the local community, helping people have their say, running workshops with young people, photographing local campaigns & such like. I’ve engaged with schools, libraries, local pressure groups, run workshops and taught photography to many different groups within adult education and the voluntary sector. My own photography reflects my interests; people, animals, birds, art, theatre, sport, music with resulting work in a wide range of publications from The Nursing Times, Vogue, publicity for charities such as Mencap, to the New Musical Express. Photography has found me in many amazing situations that I wouldn’t otherwise have been in, such as meeting Bob Dylan and participating in a Hindu festival in South London.
